About

Working from my Bristol studios, I’m an Eco Designer, Stylist and Personal Shopper who can transform your wardrobe and make it work for you, whether it’s a revamp, refresh or a complete restyle you’re after.

I originally studied Theatre Design, specialising in Costume at a London College and followed that with a Post Grad in Innovative Pattern Cutting at St Martin’s College of Fashion.  I worked in Theatre and TV for ten years with companies such as Aardman Animations for the film Chicken Run and the BBC for period drama Lark Rise to Candleford before eventually choosing to work with young people, teaching them to sew and create arts and crafts. It’s my passion for vintage clothing and helping people make their wardrobes work for them that led me to create Custard House.

You can find me at local markets like the fortnightly Tobacco Factory Market and I sell vintage ladies clothing and run customising workshops at various summer festivals.  I offer a professional Alterations and Customisation service from my studio as well as running regular Sewing workshops.

I’ve also written a book! ‘Thrifty Style’ (published by Cico Books) is published on October 2nd, 2012 and is packed full of upscaling and accessorizing tips – learn how to customise your own clothes and breathe new life into a vintage find.

To make an appointment or for more information, please email me at janine@custardhouseclothing.co.uk or call me on 07880 736 054.  You can also find me on Twitter or on Facebook.
